From Razzle to Dazzle – in a day.

‘”The art of mothering is to teach the art of living to children.” – Elaine Heffner

Welcome to my blog!  I’m so glad that you stopped by.  We parents need to hang out and support each other, don’t you think? We’ve all had such adventures and such unique paths that bring us to where we are.  Let’s shed our insecurities and start having each other’s backs, shall we?

I’m The Razzle Dazzle Mommy; I’m sometimes frazzled, always dazzled, with a sprinkle of razzle, time and life-weather permitting.  My wife & I became moms, literally, overnight.  Our daughter was just 6 days old when we brought her home.  We chose foster-to-adopt through our local county.  It was an adventure, which I will tell you all about later.  Right now, let’s focus on me, ‘kay?

I’m an activist, madly in love with my little family (my amazing wife and daughter, who rock my world every day), a sign language interpreter, and a writer/blogger.  For 3.5 years, I have been a mom.

In the time that we have been parents, coexisting in the world with other parents, I have seen a lot that led me to decide to start this blog.  It is a space where you will find my observations, opinions, reviews and as much professional advice as I find sane.  I’m honest, silly, sarcastic, opinionated and a quote whore, so get ready for heart-punching quotes from..not me.  Check out my 2018 series Raising A Baby Activist!

The media portrays parenthood inaccurately (except the first episode of Life in Pieces – that was so right on!).  They show moms either as a hot mess or totally put together.  They usually make the hot mess the stay-at-home housewife in sweats who is the reason why dry shampoo exists.  The totally put-together mom is the one who juggles parenting and career,  along with what takes a housewife all week to do, and who has sex at least 3 times a week, but who is constantly overwhelmed.  I’ve also noticed that we judge each other to the point where we isolate ourselves!  This is the worst part to me.

I see most parents as somewhere in between.  We are all running at 1000%, we are all somewhere between that hot mess and totally put together, and we all love our children fiercely..

So, it’s time to take the f-Razzle and the Dazzle and own it!  Claim it as a birthright that gets turned on once we decide to have children, no matter how that came to be or how you choose to do it.
